CLOCK SPRING INSPECTION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Remove the following parts:a. Driver–side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)b. Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)c. Column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3. Disconnect the clock spring connector. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)
4. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector. (with adaptive front lighting system (AFS)) (See STEERING ANGLE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5. Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.< Previous Next >
If not as indicated in the table, replace the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)
NOTE:
When the vehicle-side connector for the clock spring is disconnected, terminals 2A and 2B are shorted to prevent unexpected operation (deployment) of the air bag module.
